Anchor Health Properties Executive James Schmid Appointed to Columbia University / Columbia Business School Real Estate Forum

Anchor is proud to announce that James A. Schmid III, Chief Investment Officer and Managing Partner, has been appointed to the prestigious Columbia Business School Real Estate Forum, an exclusive group of global real estate leaders who shape the future of the industry through thought leadership, mentorship, and strategic dialogue.

Established in 1995 by the MBA Real Estate Program Advisory Board, the Real Estate Forum is an invitation-only consortium of real estate CEOs and senior executives who own and manage significant portfolios across the U.S. and internationally. Forum members collaborate several times annually to candidly discuss major industry trends and provide insights that support academic programming at the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate. Many participants also contribute to classroom activities, case production, and research initiatives, with selected members serving on the MBA Real Estate Program Advisory Board.

Mr. Schmid, a 2005 graduate of Columbia Business School (CBS) and 2000 graduate of Columbia University’s College of Arts and Sciences, has maintained strong ties to the university over the past 25 years. During his time at CBS, he was an active member of the McCombs Real Estate Competition Team and served as a University Senator. In that role, he advised on the landmark Columbia Manhattanville Real Estate Development project, which created the university’s second campus, and supported the successful initiative to reinstate ROTC on campus after a 30 year hiatus. Since graduation, he has remained an engaged alumnus through the Columbia Business School Real Estate Circle and by mentoring students and hiring interns from CBS to join the Anchor Health Properties team for nearly a decade.

“This is a career achievement for me to be recognized to participate in this group of real estate industry leaders from around the globe,” shared Mr. Schmid. “I am exceedingly grateful to the team at Anchor Health Properties for our work together to build a best-in-sector operating platform and brand. I am deeply humbled that the Paul Milstein Center and Columbia Business School chose to recognize my industry contributions since my time on campus and am quite eager to further share my experience and lessons learned with the Columbia Real Estate Forum, the Paul Milstein Center, and the student body at CBS in the years ahead.”

Under Mr. Schmid’s leadership, Anchor Health Properties has continued to scale as a national leader in healthcare real estate, delivering premier facilities and platforms that support the operational and financial success of leading health systems, providers, and investors.
