Anchor Health Properties Celebrates Grand Opening of New Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in South Miami

Continuing its commitment to pursuing better healthcare through real estate solutions, Anchor Health Properties joined Baptist Health South Florida, Lifepoint Rehabilitation, project partners, and community leaders to celebrate the completion of the new Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 29. The hospital will welcome its first patients in August.

Strategically located adjacent to Baptist Health South Miami Hospital at 6201 Sunset Drive, the three-story, 100,000 square foot inpatient rehabilitation hospital features 62 private patient beds and expands regional access to specialized, patient-centered rehabilitation care for individuals recovering from a decline in function due to an injury or illness.

"We are proud to celebrate the completion of this important milestone alongside Baptist Health South Florida, Lifepoint Rehabilitation, and the many organizations who helped bring this vision to life," shared Richard Paddock, Senior Vice President, Development & Partner with Anchor Health Properties. "This hospital is the result of a shared commitment to expanding access to specialized rehabilitation care and investing in the long-term health of the South Florida community. We are honored to have partnered in delivering a facility that strengthens the continuum of care and will serve patients and their families for years to come."

Echoing these sentiments, Jon Nelson, Senior Vice President, Development & Asset Management & Partner noted, “One of the most significant outcomes of this project is what it means for patients and their families. Access to high-quality rehabilitation care closer to home reduces the burden of travel during an already difficult time, allowing patients to focus on their recovery and spend more time with the people supporting them. That's the kind of lasting community impact we strive to create through thoughtful healthcare real estate investment.”

Engaged as the developer by Baptist Health South Florida, the region's largest not-for-profit healthcare organization, and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, an operating division of Lifepoint Health, Anchor Health Properties provided comprehensive development and real estate planning expertise throughout the project. Services included financing, planning and programming, oversight of design and construction, and post-occupancy commissioning. Lifepoint Rehabilitation will operate the facility in partnership with Baptist Health South Florida.

"Projects of this scale are only possible through strong collaboration, shared accountability, and a dedicated team working toward a common goal," added Will Foster, Senior Development Director with Anchor Health Properties. "From the earliest stages of planning through construction completion, this project has been driven by a collective vision to create a best-in-class healing environment for patients and their families. We are grateful to Baptist Health South Florida, Lifepoint Rehabilitation, and the entire project team for their partnership in bringing this exceptional facility to the community."

Designed to serve more than 1,200 patients each year, the facility will provide intensive therapy for patients suffering from traumatic medical situations such as a stroke, orthopedic injury or deconditioning after surgery or illness.

The hospital features specialty programs dedicated to neuro, stroke and amputation, alongside distinct clinical environments including bariatric suites, a dedicated neuro unit and rooms specially designed to treat dialysis patients. To promote movement and real-world adaptation, the facility also includes large interdisciplinary therapy gyms, a low-stimulation therapy gym and a therapeutic courtyard featuring gardens, walking paths, miniature golf and shuffleboard. Additionally, a transitional living apartment simulates a residential setting to help patients practice daily living tasks safely before being discharged home.

Key members of the project team with extensive healthcare facility experience include Earl Swensson Associates, a multidisciplinary architectural firm, Robins & Morton, a full service general contractor, and Kimley Horn, a premier civil engineering consultant.
