Anchor Health Properties Marks Construction Commencement of a New 120-Bed, 127,942 Square Foot Nursing Facility in Shoreline, Washington through a Public-Private Partnership
In support of the company’s mission to pursue better healthcare through real estate solutions, Anchor recently commenced construction on a new 3-story, 120-bed, 127,942 square foot nursing facility. The Fircrest Nursing Facility, located at 15230 15th Ave NE in Shoreline, Washington, will be built with Person-Centered Care to promote choice, purpose, and meaning in daily life.
Through a Public-Private Partnership with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, a state agency delivering a variety of social services, employment support, safety programs, and behavioral health cre and Public Facilities Group, a leading practitioner of 63-20 Progressive Design-Build focused on the successful delivery of public infrastructure on behalf of its public partners, Anchor is providing comprehensive development services and real estate planning expertise on this project.
“With the construction commencement on this dynamic facility, we are thrilled to work alongside the Department of Social and Health Services and Public Facilities Group to revitalize the Fircrest Nursing Facility,” shared Sean Miller, Senior Vice President, Development with Anchor. “Our collaboration with state and local officials, Public Facilities Group, and the local community has been crucial in ensuring we preserve much of the existing campus and natural surroundings while creating a welcoming, supportive environment where residents can thrive with dignity and independence. Embracing a spirit of partnership, we look forward to realizing the vision for the facility and campus, achieving exceptional outcomes for the Shoreline community.”
The new nursing facility will feature private and semi-private bedrooms with adjacent toilet and bathing facilities, shared common areas and dining rooms, meeting and multi-purpose rooms for resident recreation, therapy, activities, and operations, and access to outside porches, patios, and serene gardens. This thoughtfully designed environment prioritizes the comfort and well-being of residents, ensuring they have spaces that promote connection, relaxation, and engagement with nature. Additionally, there will be individual and shared spaces for program managers and nursing, custodial, and maintenance staff, storage space for an abundance of equipment and supplies, including wheelchairs and laundry carts, and staff and visitor parking with canopy structures for photovoltaic panels.
The project will also include campus infrastructure enhancements, including upgraded site utilities, such as water system improvements, street and sidewalk improvements, as well as a new, separate 6,400 square foot laundry facility to support the entire campus.
“This project represents a major step forward in our commitment to improving healthcare access and quality within our community. The revitalization of the Fircrest Nursing Facility and Campus stands as a powerful testament to our dedication to delivering compassionate care for our most vulnerable residents,” added Larry Covey, Capital Programs Director with Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. “Our collaboration with Public Facilities Group, the project team, and local partners will create a facility that prioritizes the well-being and dignity of every individual – both now and for generations to come.”
Echoing these sentiments, John Finke, President of Public Facilities Group, noted, “We are proud to collaborate with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services on this transformative project, which will provide essential, long-term care to a vulnerable population. The revitalized nursing facility and campus reflects our commitment to creating spaces that foster dignity and respect, while meeting the evolving needs of residents, ensuring a lasting positive impact on the community.”
Regionally based firms with extensive healthcare facility experience are serving as part of the project team, including AHBL, a civil engineering and design firm located in Seattle, DLR Group | Salus Architecture, a leading architectural firm exclusively dedicated to healthcare design specializing in the design of complex acute and ambulatory care facilities, and Kiewit Building Group, one of North America’s largest and most respected construction and engineering organizations.
The nursing facility is slated to open in November 2027. The facility will be Net Zero Capable and is anticipated to achieve LEED Silver certification for its sustainable design and construction practices.
