Anchor Health Properties Announces Construction Commencement of Tennessee Valley Eye Center's New Surgery Center

Anchor Health Properties (Anchor) is proud to partner with Tennessee Valley Eye Center (TVEC) on a multi-phase project, including the development of a new 18,000-square foot outpatient surgery center as well as the repurpose and renovation of an existing 26,000-square foot medical office building.

Located in and serving the greater Knoxville, TN area, TVEC exclusively engaged Anchor to evaluate facility improvement and expansion opportunities. Anchor explored ways to increase the number of operating rooms to allow for volume growth while planning for significant capital improvements to the existing facility. Various options explored included maintaining the building’s original programming and layout, updating the interior finishes and replacing the building’s systems, as well as expanding the building’s footprint. 

After a thorough evaluation process, TVEC ultimately decided to construct a new 6-room surgery center located on a TVEC-owned site adjacent to the existing facility. Construction of the new surgery center is expected to be completed and accepting patients in the Fall of 2018.

Following the relocation of the surgery center to the new facility later this year, the existing facility will be systematically renovated and expanded to 31,000-square feet. The expanded and renovated medical office building will house clinical practices, a Lasik center and an optical shop, creating an eye-specific destination for healthcare services.

Each facility is expected to be fully-leased upon opening.

Anchor and TVEC are working closely with two Knoxville-based firms with extensive healthcare experience, Design Innovation Architects as the Architect of Record and Johnson & Galyon as the General Contractor on this project.
